Setting: Sturbuck's Leviste
One cool midweek night.
Bang, Val and I tried to exercise our
writing prowess.
We unanimously decide on one subject
and write something about it.
Anything.
Any thought that comes to your mind.
Free style.
These are my versions.
Subject 1 : Table
"Table For One"
Amidst the clear night sky
and soft orange lights from the lamp
posts,
I sit at this cafe,
a table for one.
When a good two years ago
he was here sharing a cup with me.
A good two years ago,
I was particularly complete.
A good two years ago.
But tonight,
amidst the clear night sky
and soft orange lights from the lamp
posts,
I sit at this cafe,
a table for one.
Subject 2: Glass
"Broken"
Does it really matter who did it?
Would you still be interested if it's
not worth keeping?
How could you bear the thought it
actually slipped from your hands when
you had a good grip of it?
You know you couldn't actually have it
good as new, yet you try and try and
cut yourself deep trying to fix it,
could you?
A broken glass is ought to be left
broken unless you actually risk
yourself, trying and trying to cut
yourself open.
Would you really bleed for a broken
glass?
Like I did trying to glue a broken
heart?
Subject 3: Leaf
"Ang Tatlong Kasinungalingan ng
Pobreng Dahon"
Sa paglipas ng tadhana mula sa puno,
dahon ika'y magpatihulog.
Sa paghaltak ng lupa mula sa walong
dipang sanga,
dahon ika'y magpatihulog.
Wari'y lakas ng loob o ang di
maipaliwanag na puwersa mula sa punla,
naturingan ika'y malakas, matibay,
matapang.
Ngunit gaya ng buwang di maitago ang
sinag ng araw,
ang katotohanan ay lubos na
mangingibabaw.
Hindi tapang.
Hindi tibay.
Hindi lakas.
Pobreng dahon ika'y nagpatihulog
tungo sa labi ng tigang na lupa,
sa kadahilanang kahit tatlong
kasinungalingan ito'y rurok,
sa pagibig na kahit walong dipa'y
walang magagawa.
